SUMMARY:
Spider Management Company, LLC (SMC), is a registered investment advisor located in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 2001, SMC provides investment management services to Endowments and Foundations, one of which is the University of Richmond. Spider presently manages the $3.5 billion Endowment of University of Richmond and $2.5 billion of assets for 25 other Endowments and Foundations. Spider manages a diversified portfolio, including both traditional and alternative investments, that aims to provide strong returns for the Endowments and Foundations it supports.
Spider’s analyst program is anticipated to be three years in length and is intended to prepare the appropriate candidate for a career in the asset management industry. As generalists on the investment team, the primary function of the analysts is to provide analytical and research support across the portfolio. This broad exposure across asset classes, investment strategies and geographies, and operational due diligence is designed to provide the candidate with a holistic understanding of the asset management industry. As the analysts move through the program, they will be expected to train and mentor incoming analysts as well as take a greater role in manager sourcing and due diligence. At the end of year three, our hope would be for the analysts to leave with a sense of where the next step in their careers should be, and have built a network and deep knowledge in that space.
